Maximum life to reduce downtime on sophisticated machinery. |
Many of the dust and wear problems in the paper industry are caused by poor quality slitting. Burcas has produced dramatic improvements in knife life, quality of cut and dust reduction by using the whole spectrum of available materials - Tungsten carbide, Ceramic, High Speed Steel and Powder Steels - and ensuring efficient cutting angles, surface finish and flatness.

Higher quality materials used in the production of Slitters are now being specified by Burcas' customers, such is the demand for the supply of the latest technological advances in materials, Burcas now offers a Technical Advice Service to all customers.
The Burcas Solution, the combination of the right grades of materials and cutting geometry - matched to suit the cutting requirement, at Burcas we specialise in supplying customers with knives that achieve longer life between regrinds, thus decreasing the down time on expensive sophisticated machinery.
Burcas Multi-Cut Plus Slitters are manufactured from CPM 10V - a unique American powdered steel that, because of its alloy content and structure, provides a superior wear resistance with excellent toughness.
Burcas Carbide Cut Bottom Knives are manufactured from Carbide material that, because it is harder (82 HRc) than the slitter (63 HRc) and manufactured to extremely close tolerances, with a mirror finish and razor sharp edge the result is a reduction of dust formation and optimum performance of the knife. The Carbide Cut Bottom Knife provides very high wear resistance with excellent toughness, extending the sharpness of the knife keeping machine down time to an absolute minimum. |
Milling Units
Circular milling units with brazed carbide inserts, replacement tips and special slitters.
Knife Management
At Burcas we are now offering this system to monitor the use of individual customers' knives.
A free survey of all the knives a company uses is undertaken and all existing knives are counted and geometry recorded.
A calculation of stocks levels for each machine is established and a safe inventory agreed. When the knives are sent to Burcas, they are identified, numbered, logged and recorded, the Management process begins. A cost analysis is recorded for each type of knife, which assists in the forecasting of knife expenditure.
Alternatively, Burcas will lease the knives to customers, saving huge outlay costs for new knives. The costs will be spread evenly throughout the life of this precision ground tool. |
